Physical Education

At Heycroft Primary School, we emphasize the significance of Physical Education (PE) as an essential component of our curriculum.

We are firm believers that engaging in physically-demanding activities inspires our pupils to thrive and build confidence, fostering their overall health and fitness for a lifetime. Our commitment extends to ensuring that children are physically active on a daily basis, whether through regular physical activity, PE lessons, breaktimes, or participation in extra-curricular activities. We also use Teach Active to use an active approach to learning in maths and English.

Moreover, we advocate for providing opportunities for children to participate in sports and activities that not only promote character development but also instill values such as teamwork, fairness, and respect. We use the Get Set 4 PE scheme as a starting point to aligns with the National Curriculum's objectives for physical education, ensuring that every child develops competence across a diverse range of physical activities, maintains physical activity for sustained periods, engages in competitive sports, and leads a healthy, active lifestyle. We are dedicated to nurturing well-rounded individuals through our PE program at Heycroft.
