THE HEYCROFT LEARNING PHILOSOPHY-
We approach learning as embarking on a journey that sparks the natural curiosity of all learners; developing independence, resilience and a thirst for life-long learning that enables everyone to achieve their full potential.
We are all very proud of Heycroft Primary School, which has gained an excellent reputation locally. Our core values of Respect, Excellence and Determination underpin everything that we stand for.
Our committed and dedicated staff and governors work hard to provide the very best opportunities for all pupils. As well as a rich and engaging curriculum which enables the children to learn and apply key skills, develop knowledge and a love of learning. Our vision is to create rich and memorable opportunities which will enable our pupils to thrive and to develop the attitudes and skills which set the foundations for a happy and successful life. We actively promote the British Values of Democracy, Rule of Law, Respect for Others and Individual Liberty.
An extensive range of club activities in sport and the arts as well as regular educational trips and visitors from the community fully enrich the curriculum. The school has received the Enhanced Healthy Schools Award, the Artsmark Gold Award, International Award, Geography Bronze Award, Basic Skills Award, Drugaware Award and the NACE Challenge Award. We are also proud to have become the first Fairtrade primary school in Southend.
We have a very active Student Council formed of four committees - Behaviour and Safety, Curriculum, Environment and Enterprise. There are many opportunities for pupils to take on roles of responsibilities both within their own class and across the school.
We work in close partnership with parents, governors, the local community and the local authority to provide the very best all-round educational experience for the children in our care.
We do hope that you find our website useful . If you are a prospective parent and would like to visit the school, please contact the school office to make an appointment where you will be made most welcome. Please note that paper copies of any of our polices are available on request.
