Heycroft School was opened in 1969. There are fourteen classes of children (two form entry). There is a separate assembly hall and gymnasium. We also have an air conditioned ICT Suite with one computer per child, plus a class set of wireless laptops for use around the school. The school is extremely well decorated, maintained and resourced, with carpeted classrooms. We also have a large art and craft room.
We have an enclosed separate play area for our Early Years classes. We are fortunate in having very spacious and attractive grounds. The 300 year old oak trees provide ample shade in the summer. There is an extensive playing field and a large, open air, heated swimming pool with adjacent changing rooms at the rear of the school building. A kiln room is also adjacent to the main building. The playground is spacious with separate areas for ball games and quieter needs. Behind the swimming pool is a wild area with a large pond for environmental activities.
In the summer of 2006 a £1,250,000, a joint government and local authority funded major project was completed - with five new main building classrooms; a new library; new offices and entrance way. Additional corridors completed the project to finally join up the main building more conveniently.

At Heycroft we have a very effective Prefect system. Twelve Year 6 pupils take on this responsibility.
