Meet the Governors

View from the Chair - Letters from Kevin Malone, Chair of Governors

We are fortunate in having an extremely dedicated and knowledgeable Governing Body who work hard to support and challenge the school in its work. Many governors are in the school

on a weekly basis and work closely with staff and pupils.

The Governing Body has three committees:

Behaviour, Safety and Well Being
Teaching, Learning and Pupil Achievement
Leadership and Management

Each committee meets twice a term with the full Governing Body meeting termly.

Mr. K. Malone

Kev attended Heycroft as a pupil in the 1980's, and joined the Governing Body when his stepson attended the school. He holds a degree in Criminology, and his professional experience spans education, social care and health. He is passionate about the local community, having lived in Eastwood most of his life. He is married with two children.

Mr. P. Collins

Paul has been a School Governor at Heycroft for 15 years, and has experience in financial matters within the financial services and community work. One of his sons is registered disabled, and he is keen to ensure there is open access for all children.

Mrs. A. Winfield

Angela is a Certified Registered Bookkeeper, and a Fellow of the International Association of Bookkeepers. She has two children at the school and is keen to promote Respect, Excellence and Determination.

Mr. T.  Neville

Tony has been a Parent Governor for a number of years, and also chairs Heycroft's Parents' Association, which leads in fund-raising for the school on behalf of the parents. His two elder children were both educated at Heycroft, and he has one child in the school at the time of writing (2015). He is pleased to be able to make a contribution to the school as both a Governor and in his PA role.

Mr. M. Thomas

Mick is retired, having previously worked throughout his career in information technology roles within financial institutions. He has acquired much experience of budgeting and general financial matters.

He was a "Heycroft parent" continuously from 1984 to 1998 with all three of his daughters enjoying their early education at Heycroft. He has been a Governor for nearly 20 years.

He has been a resident of Eastwood for over 30 years and is pleased to be able to contribute to the on-going development of the school.

Mr. S. Frith

Simon began serving as a Heycroft Governor in 2007 whilst his two children were pupils at the school. His wife Jackie works at Heycroft as a SEN LSA. He has a wealth of communication and project management skills, which he has gained through his job as a film director and producer, and this gives him a useful perspective at Governor committee meetings.

He is passionate about improving the outcomes for all pupils at the school.

Mrs. M. White

Mary has been involved with Heycroft for 46 years and has three children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild, all of which keep her on her toes and very happy.

She works for Dr. S. Sathanandan, is a member of the Cantare Choir and a member of St. Laurence Church.

She also has many other interests including cake making, watercolour artist, dressmaker and gardener and is am a ballet and opera lover.

Mrs. N. Sims

Nichola  is a Parent Governor at Heycroft, with her youngest child currently in Year 6.

She is the Training Manager for the Institute of Legacy Management with a degree in Social Administration and Psychology.

She is also a member of the Salvation Army.

Mr. P. Matheison

Paul has been a Governor at Heycroft for nearly 20 years. Previously he was a member of the Parents' Association and for several years Chair of the Governing Body.

Both of his daughters attended Heycroft so his interest in the school stretches back over 25 years, during which times there have been massive changes in education, but he feels that the school remains a place to be very proud of in times of change.

He lives and works locally, and by profession is a Chartered Civil Engineer, so brings an experience and expertise to the Governing Body in terms of project management, finance and technical matters.

He is pleased to be able to bring his longstanding experience to the Governing Body, and looks forward to continuing working with the team on the many challenges ahead.

Mrs. H. Barrett

Helen has become our newest Parent Governor (joined Feb 2016) with currently one child at the school. She is also a member of the Heycroft Parents Association and is proud to be involved in all areas of her daughters education, and to be able to contribute and support everyone involved at Heycroft.
